Healthy Bran Horse Cookies are a fabulous treat for your horses. Without preservatives and additives, they are a healthy alternative to the store bought treats. If you like to spoil your horse try this recipe. All ingredients are found in your local Grocery Store. This is also a fun project to get your children involved. These cookies are not only loved by horses, dogs crave them as well. No need to spend money on mass produced Treats, containing preservatives and additives, when you can make a much healthier choice for less money. Try this simple recipe. You will have enough dough with this to freeze part of it for later baking.

Healthy Bran Horse Cookies

  • 2 cups wheat bran
  • 2 cups oat bran
  • 2 cups corn meal
  • 2 cups flax seed ground
  • 2 cups molasses
  • 2 1/4 cups water

Mix all ingredients together. Use a small ice cream scoop to form the cookies, and put them on two cookie sheets lined with parchment paper. Bake at 325 for 22 minutes. After 22 minutes, switch the position of the cookie sheets, top to bottom, and bake for another 22 minutes. Let cool completely on cookie sheet. Let the cookies dry out for 24 hours if they seem too moist. Store in air tight container in fridge for a week, or freeze them for 4-6 weeks. They have no preservatives, so they need to be stored in the freezer.

Oat biscuits

This recipe makes a large number of cookies. Cut ingredients in half if you want a smaller quantity.

Thanks Sharon for sharing this recipe. My Horses love these cookies, as well as my dogs and kids 🙂
