We have tried other products but keep coming back to our DIY Coconut Oil Conditioner for softer and shinier Mane, Tail and Coat. Not only does it save money in the long run, it is healthier for your horse. Products like Show Sheen and Cowboy Magic work just fine, but if you like to go a healthier way of shining up your best Friend, try our DIY Coconut Oil Conditioner Recipe.

For our Recipe we prefer this Fractionated Coconut Oil. Fractionated coconut oil is a fraction of the coconut oil from which almost all the long chain triglycerides are removed. To give it a much longer shelf life and greatly increased its stability, only the medium-chain triglycerides are left.

Coconut Oil Conditioner Health Benefits

Fractionated Coconut Oil is is liquid, colorless, odorless and non-greasy. DIY Coconut Oil Conditioner made with fractionated Coconut Oil won’t leave your horse, blankets or tack greasy. “Fractionating raises the comparative concentration of Capric acid and Caprylic acid, thus giving it more of antioxidant and disinfecting effect.” – Organic Facts. Capric Acid converts it into a powerful antimicrobial agent by reacting with certain enzymes secreted by other bacteria. Caprylic acid is rich in antimicrobial and antifungal properties.

The process to produce this coconut oil is slightly more expensive, therefore fractionated Coconut Oil is slightly more expensive. Keeping in mind! It’s extremely long shelf life, stability, and rancidity-resistant properties also makes it last much longer.

The second ingredient in our DIY Coconut Oil Conditioner is this Witch Hazel. Witch Hazel has many uses in Equine Care and we add it to our DIY Coconut Oil Conditioner for its anti-itch and anti-inflammatory properties. Witch Hazel provides instant relief when applied to bug bites.

The third ingredient is this Vegetable Glycerine. Vegetable Glycerine reduces skin inflammation, helps in curing several skin disorders and locks in moisture.

Additionally, we add Essential Oils which have benefits for numerous Equine Conditions such as bug repellent, anxiety or cuts and scrapes.
